- In the tempered scale major thirds are different than just major thirds. How many cents different are they?
- Watch Jacob Collier explain his use of just intonation in his arrangement of "Moon River". Move ahead in the video to 43:35 as he is explaining the difference between a tempered third on the piano with a just third (based on principles of the harmonic series in physics) in a G half sharp major chord. Does he like the fact that all the semitones on the equal tempered piano keyboard are of equal size? How does the triad at 47:03 sound to you? What led him to using just intonation?
- What does Jacob mean by "microtonalizing" at 54:15 in the breakdown?
- How does the sound of the just and tempered chords compare that he plays using the Kontakt V plugin starting at 1:04:38?
